WoW - Get gold or farm trying 3 mai, 2008

In the following article you`ll find some tips about gold making. These worked for me and this is how I play.

1. If you have a main and some low level alts, do not send gold to them. You should be able to play without any help, after all, how did you raise your first char anyway? The only things you must send your new character are 16 slots bags so you can loot more and sell more.

2. Always loot everything, every grey item, every useless thing because you vendor these. Don`t be lazy to pick up your loot, it`s gold after all.

3. Never buy items of armor or weapons from AH if you have a low level char because you don`t really need it, you won`t even notice the upgrade (who cares at lvl 40 if you have 4 more STA or 3 more INT?) and you can get better from quest rewards or instances. Also the low lvl blue items are considered twink items so they are in 99% of the cases overpriced. I would like to ask who bought Feet of the Lynx on a non-twink char? Exactly.

4. Your main can have non gathering professions, my warrior is Tailor/Enchanter, but the rest of the chars-always gathering professions because you`ll get to level them from 1 to 70 and pass by a ton of ore, animal corpses and herbs and you want to collect everything to sell to AH. My druid is Herba/Miner and my shaman is Skinner/Miner. This is also good because I have mats to create my own potions for raids, with the help of the friendly guild alchemist.

5. Don`t be lazy to mine Iron, Tin or pick up the pre-BC herbs. These sell like crazy at the AH. I made a lot of gold selling Heavy and Thick Leather when I was leveling in Stranglethorn Valley, skinner`s paradise.

6. I find the best times to put items on the AH the weekends because people have more free time to play, hence they will use AH more and buy what they need. I usually collect the cloth that drops and throw it on the AH in the weekend. It sells instantly.

7. If you are a member of a raiding guild you`ll have a lot of expenses (repairs, consumables). Think twice if it`s worth to blow your stash of gold on an epic mount. If that leaves you too broke to afford raiding, you have a problem. An epic mount won`t boost your DPS or repair your items.

8. Never lend large amounts of gold. 10g, 20g is OK but nothing over 100g unless that person is family or a RL friend. Would be frustrating to lend your hard worked money to someone that won`t give it back and you have no legal way to get them back. No use bitching at GMs. Side note: always ask your guild enchanter for services, don`t trust Mongoose mats to JohnDoe who will probably logoff after you traded him the mats. GMs don`t interfere in these matters, you can bitch all you want. Play safe.

9. Complete all the quests. This isn`t so important for the pre-BC world, the rewards are crap and the money is little, but in Outlands things change. Don`t move to the next map if you still have quests on the previous one. Not only you get reputation with the faction, but you get items and a hefty amount of money for the quests. I completed all quests in Outlands with both my warrior and druid. That is enough to let you buy a normal flying mount and still have gold.

10. If you are on your crafter main just loosing time and staring at walls, read the trade chat. Offer your services, but make sure you offer them at people that mention “will tip”. I had a lot of bad experiences with people that didn`t tip. I am also a little blunt and say “Tipping would be nice”, so they get the point. I made a Mongoose a couple of days ago for a rogue and she tipped me 30g. Best tip I ever got for an enchant with the client`s materials was 100g, I couldn`t believe my eyes.

Hope it helps, good luck!

my notes would be:

1 Crafting professions are a money sink, so pick one only if you really want it for your 1st char. Crafting professions make a difference only at the top level, and with a few exceptions you’ll get similar rewards from quests or instance compared to what you can or could craft.

2 Save money for your mount - it’s awful to run at level 42 when everyone in your party rides.

3 You can speculate at the auction house with rare or limited supply patterns. People are lazy or don’t know, so they’ll buy those from the AH for 10x their price.

4 Low level materials sell well also..

Outlands - do quests, dailies, farm motes :D keep the grey junk for vendors

Sirg: at nr.2. any character that has gathering professions and sells the results at AH and doesn`t buy items from AH will have money for his lvl 40 mount, i did that on 2 chars and it worked :)
3. i speculated with nexus crystals some months before BC, i had about 200+ nexus and i managed to lower the price of nexus on my server. from 20 to 12g or something just for the hell of it :)
4. low lvl materials sell excellent!!

i have about 60g on my lvl 29 mage, and the only money I sent over was 20g (bought two bags x 9g, then had a guildie make me 16-slot ones), plus my bf bought me 2-3g worth of gear in the beginning. my main is still miner/skinner (so I was always rich :D), alt is skinner/tailor. selling greys makes a lot of money even at lvl 70…

i did have to borrow money for my epic mount, but just because i did a session of gearing up/enchanting/gemming for kara and i spent about 1000g. then i discovered that i need to get epic riding skill for netherwing q :(

@ 1. Not really all crafting proffesions are a money sink, think of JC, everybody needs, jewels, they sell very good at ah (even the green ones) and the uncut stones are very cheap, a few silver for shadow draenite, deep peridot, (in case you dont have mining as the other proffesion)

so mining and jc is a good choice

I did buy a lot of stuff from the AH for my main, and still had about 120 gold remaining at lvl 40. I bought my riding mount without any help. I am a skinner/miner and i buy cheap and sell at the normal prices at the AH. I am 9 lvls away from 60 and I don’t know if i should buy an epic mount or wait til i ding 70 and use my money on a flying mount + gear. What do you suggest?

totally buy the mount now at vl 60, it will help you quest faster in outlands, if you aggro mobs you won`t be knocked down from the ride and you`ll travel faster. also you`ll make a ton of money in outlands from quests and selling ore/leather so at lvl 68 you`l be able to buy a slow flying mount with no problem. no use buying gear from AH while leveling to 70 trust me, just do quests and instances, check the loot tables, good luck!

Thanks a lot for the tips, i’ll definitely buy the epic mount at 60. I already have the amount needed, plus a little extra. As for my gear, i usually go for some PvP rewards (dagger + necklace + bracers and boots). That is, until i hit 70. ;)
